Professional Appointments

Sidney H. Evans Jr. has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer-treasurer of Howard University. He has held financial management positions with several banking and government organizations. Evans earned a bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Suellen K. Mann has been named executive director of the Palm Beach Community College Foundation, the fund-raising arm of the college. She came to PBCC from the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, where she served as director of development for more than five years. Mann holds a bachelor’s from Barry University and a master’s from the University of Miami.

Selena Mendy Singleton has been named director of programs for the National Association for Equal Opportunity (NAFEO). Most recently, she served as executive vice president for TransAfrica Forum. She earned a bachelor’s from Tufts University, a master’s from the College of New Rochelle and a law degree from Columbia University.

Dr. Jo Rae Wright has been named dean of the Duke University Graduate School and vice provost, effective July 1. A cell biologist and physiologist, she has served since 2002 as vice dean of basic science at the Duke University School of Medicine. Wright received her bachelor’s and doctorate from West Virginia University.
