Web Site to Provide Black History Resource

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.
In honor of Black History Month, Thomson Gale, a leading e-research and educational publishing company, is launching a new Web site featuring historical facts and figures, biographies, relevant Web links and teaching tools. The site, accessible at <www.gale.com/free_resources/bhm/>, is provided to help students, teachers and families celebrate the month.

Each week in February, Thomson Gale will post a different quiz on the Web site, testing visitors’ knowledge of significant people and historical events related to Black History Month. Weekly winners will receive Thomson Gale books for their school library.

The Web site also features biographies of famous and influential African-Americans, including television talk show host Oprah Winfrey, the late civil rights icon Rosa Parks and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. The biographies present information on each person’s life, including date and place of birth, details on their personal life and career and resources for further information.
