Professional Appointments

Dr. David G. Carter has been named chancellor of the Connecticut State University System. He had served as president of Eastern Connecticut State University since 1988. Carter earned a bachelor’s from Central State University, a master’s from Miami University (Ohio) and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.

Dwight Datcher has been named director of intercollegiate athletics at Howard University. Most recently he served as associate director of athletics at Georgetown University. Datcher earned a bachelor’s  from Roger Williams University.

Dr. Zebulun R. Davenport has been appointed associate vice president of student life at James Madison University. Most recently he was the associate vice president of multicultural awareness and student health at JMU. Davenport earned a bachelor’s and a master’s from JMU and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern.

Dr. Catharine B. “Cappy” Hill has been named president of Vassar College effective July 1. She is currently provost and the John J. Gibson Professor of Economics at Williams College. Hill received a bachelor’s and master’s from Brasenose College at Oxford University and a doctorate from Yale University.

Dr. Jean Jonassaint has been named associate professor of French at Syracuse University. Prior to his new position, he was an assistant professor of French and Francophone literature at Duke University. Jonassaint earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a doctorate from the Université de Montréal.

Dr. Judith Little has been appointed vice president of institutional development at Paine College. Most recently she was director of foundations for the National Urban League. Little earned a bachelor’s from Santa Clara University, a master’s from Stanford University and a doctorate from Cornell University.
