Curtis J. Crawford has been elected to DePaul University's board of trustees. Crawford is president and chief executive officer of ZiLOG, Inc., a California-based manufacturer of high performance microprocessors and microcontrollers. Crawford holds a bachelor's in business administration and computer science and a master's in marketing, both from Governors State University. He also holds a master's of business administration from DePaul University and a doctorate in organization and management from Capella University.
Isara Kelly Tyson, an associate professor of English at Manatee Community College in Florida, has won a Southern Region Johnnie Ruth Clarke Award for Excellency in teaching from the National Council on American Affairs. The 20-year-old award recognizes administrators, faculty and staff who extend themselves beyond expectations to meet the needs of community college students.
Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr., vice president for student affairs at West Virginia State College, has been awarded the Governor's Living the Dream Award. The award was given to Griffin for his leadership in carrying out programs and for sensitivity to the challenges of increasingly diverse and multicultural communities. Griffin holds a bachelor's in secondary education from Bluefield State College; a master's in college student personnel services from Western Illinois University and a doctorate in education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
