Professional Appointments

Jamar Banks has been named director of the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services, as well as head of the Culture Center at the University of Nebraska. He had been serving in an interim capacity. Banks earned a bachelor’s from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a master’s from the University of Nebraska.

Juán García has been named dean of student development and education services at Tarrant County College’s South Campus. Most recently, he served as director of admissions at Blinn College. García earned a bachelor’s from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s from Texas A&M University.

Mary Lou Greene has been named director of the Institute for Arts-Infused Education at Marygrove College. Most recently, she was an administrator for El Arte Alliance. Greene received a bachelor’s from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville and a master’s from The Ohio State University.

Leann Johnson has been appointed to the newly created position of director for equity and diversity at Clark College. Most recently, she was manager of cultural services for the City of Vancouver, Wash. Johnson received her bachelor’s from the University of Portland.

Scott McKenzie has been named dean of technology and engineering at Fullerton College. Most recently, he was a full-time faculty member in machine technology at the college. McKenzie earned his associate from Fullerton, and his bachelor’s and master’s from California State University-Long Beach.

Marco W. McMillian has been appointed executive assistant to the president at Alabama A&M University. Most recently, he was assistant to the vice president and associate director of development at Jackson State University. McMillian earned a bachelor’s from Jackson State and a master’s from St. Mary’s University.

Dr. Frank Moss has been named director of the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and will hold the Jerome B. Wiesner Chair in Media Technology. He is the co-founder of several technology companies, including Bowstreet Inc., a pioneer in Web services. Moss earned his bachelor’s from Princeton University and his master’s and doctorate from MIT.

Jennifer Pjatak has been appointed director of alumni relations at the University of New Haven. Most recently, she served as assistant director of alumni relations for the university. She earned a bachelor’s from Southern Connecticut State University.

Catherine Simmons has been appointed assistant director of auxiliary services at North Carolina A&T State University. Most recently, she served as budget manager in the school’s division of Development and University Relations. Simmons received a bachelor’s from North Carolina A&T.

Suzanne Stafford has been named director/trainer of international corporate training with Forsyth Technical Community College’s Community & Economic Development Department. She earned a bachelor’s from Old Dominion University, a master’s from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Kevan L. Turman has been named director of alumni relations at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He recently returned from Ghana, where he was a project leader for Operation Crossroads Africa. Turman earned a bachelor’s from Lincoln University.

Ernest L. Waiters has been named chief of police and director of public safety at Bowie State University. Most recently, he served as a special investigator for the Maryland Attorney’s Office for Prince George’s County. He earned a bachelor’s from Columbia Union College and a master’s from Bowie State.
