Professional Appointments

Dr. Wyatt R. Hume has been appointed provost and senior vice president for academic affairs for the University of California system, the second-highest position in the system. Previously, Hume served as interim provost. He holds two bachelors’ degrees and two doctorates from the University of Adelaide in Australia.

Dr. Jessica M. Bailey has been named dean of Winston-Salem University’s School of Business and Economics. Most recently, she served as dean of the School of Business at Virginia Union University. Bailey earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Coppin State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Missouri.

Cammie Dean has been named director of student life at Clarke College (Iowa). Most recently, she served as director of multicultural student services at the university. Dean holds a bachelor’s from the University of Iowa.

Elma De Luna-Gonzalez has been named director of multicultural affairs at Prairie View A&M University (Texas). Previously, she served as assistant to the dean for operations and recruitment at the university’s School of Architecture. Gonzalez earned a bachelor’s from the University of Houston and a master’s from Prairie View.

Dr. Carnell Jones Jr. has been appointed university registrar at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Jones holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southeast Missouri State University and a doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Dr. Quincy Moore has been named vice president of student services at Palm Beach Community College (Fla.). Moore earned a bachelor’s from Culver-Stockton College, a master’s from the University of Nevada and a doctorate from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Peter Quigley has been appointed chancellor of Leeward Community College, part of the University of Hawaii system. He holds an associate degree from Fullerton College, bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University-Fullerton and a doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sherry L. Turner has been named vice president for student affairs at Spelman College (Ga.). She had served in the position on an interim basis. Turner earned a bachelor’s from Rhodes College, a master’s from North Carolina State University, a master’s from Emory University and a doctorate from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Edward Twyman has been appointed dean of the Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs at Providence College (R.I.). He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Youngstown State University and a doctorate from the University of Akron.
