Umoja Gathering Place, an organization that helps ensure college access for first-generation students, has received a two-year, $20,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to support its operations.

Savannah State University (Ga.) has received a $3 million GEAR UP grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will provide educational support for more than 600 low-income sixth- and seventh-grade students in two area middle schools.

The University of Denver has received a $1.5 million grant from the Daniels Fund to support the Daniels Institute for Ethics and Social Entrepreneurship.
