Rutgers Names New Chancellor for Camden Campus

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. ― The dean of the University of Maryland’s law school has been named the new chancellor for Rutgers University’s Camden campus.

Phoebe Haddon will start in New Jersey on July 1. Her appointment was announced Wednesday by Rutgers President Robert Barchi.

Haddon was previously a law professor at Philadelphia’s Temple University. In 2009, she became the first African-American dean at the law school.

She takes over at Rutgers’ Camden campus as the university is launching a collaboration with nearby Rowan University in health sciences offerings.

The campus was also granted more autonomy on some matters from the flagship campus in New Brunswick as part of a reorganization effort last year.
