Dr. Paula T. Hammond

Hammond Paula 2Paula T. Hammond grew up wanting to become a writer, but instead she’s become a leading chemical engineer and academic. At MIT, she serves as the David H. Koch professor in engineering. Hammond helped found the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, which strives to design more functional technology for soldiers. Her research interests include the nanoscale design of biomaterials, macromolecular design and synthesis. In 2010, the Harvard Foundation awarded Hammond the Scientist of the Year Award. Discover Magazine named her in one of its “Top 100 Science Stories of 2008.”
