Professional Appointments

Dr. Velvie Green has been appointed president of Glendale Community College (Ariz.). She was most recently provost and executive vice president for academic and student affairs at Grand Rapids Community College. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Michigan University and a doctorate from Michigan State University.

Michael Bryan Becraft has been appointed special assistant to the provost at Austin Peay State University (Tenn.). Becraft was most recently assistant to the provost at St. Mary’s College. He holds a bachelor’s from St. Mary’s and a master’s from American University.

Dr. René Cantu has been appointed vice president of multicultural affairs at Nevada State College. He was previously assistant vice president for student affairs at the institution. Cantu earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

Gregory C. Harris has been named chief of police at South Carolina State University. He was previously the police chief at Clemson University. Harris earned a bachelor’s from Saint Leo College and a master’s from Kennesaw State University.

Dr. Haifan Lin has been named director of Yale University’s stem cell program. He was most recently co-director and co-founder of Duke University’s stem cell research program. Lin earned his bachelor’s from Fudan University in China and his doctorate from
Cornell University.

Amir Mohammadi has been named vice president of student affairs at Delaware State University. He was previously associate vice president for generated revenue at West Virginia University. Mohammadi earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Adelphi University.

Mindi Shalita has been named director of human resources at Thomas Edison State College (N.J.). She was most recently an employee relations coordinator in the New Jersey Governor’s Office of Employee Relations. She holds a bachelor’s from Rider University and a master’s from Thomas Edison.

Kevin B. Taylor has been appointed director of the MBA program at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). He most recently served in multiple positions at the University of Connecticut. Taylor holds a bachelor’s from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a MBA from UConn.

Andreas Wolf has been appointed dean of the physical education/athletics/dance division at the College of San Mateo (Calif.). He has served as dean of Skyline College’s physical education department since 2001. Wolf earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Francisco State University.
