South Carolina HBCU Launches Institute to Focus on Southern Black History, Culture and Policy

Claflin University is to be applauded for this effort.  The creation of this research center should boost the image and reputation of this very fine institution.  It also proves that there is no substitute for the enlightened leadership that is present at Claflin, but continues to be sorely much in need at so many of our schools.  My hope is that the established scholars at the majority schools who are producing their own kind will steer them to institutes like this one.
