Professional Appointments

Dr. Charles M. Lyons has been named president of York County Community College (Maine). He was most recently president of the University of Maine at Augusta. Lyons holds a bachelor’s from St. Francis Xavier University, a master’s from the University of Hartford and a doctorate from Boston University.

Carol Lynnett Bennett has been appointed director of the Wilbur Nathan Daniel African American Cultural Center at Austin Peay State University (Tenn.). She was most recently project coordinator for the Indiana University Archives of African American Music and Culture. Bennett holds a bachelor’s from Martin University and a master’s from IU.

Dr. Roslyn Rosen has been named director of California State University-Northridge’s National Center on Deafness. She retired in 2003 from Gallaudet University after 33 years. Rosen earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Gallaudet and a doctorate from Catholic University of America.

Dr. Florence M. Holland has been appointed special assistant to the associate provost for diversity and multicultural affairs at Auburn University (Ala.). She holds a bachelor’s from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a master’s from Ball State University and a doctorate from Argosy University.

Dr. H. Keith Moo-Young has been named dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology at California State University-Los Angeles. He holds a bachelor’s from Morgan State University, a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s and doctorate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Ajay T. Nair has been named associate dean of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Columbia University (N.Y.). He was most recently the assistant director of the Asian American studies program at the University of Pennsylvania. Nair earned his bachelor’s and doctorate at Pennsylvania State University and his master’s at Lincoln University.

Dr. Diane Nyhammer has been appointed executive dean of humanities at McHenry County College (Ill.). She was most recently dean of arts and sciences at Colorado Mountain College. Nyhammer holds a bachelor’s from Barat College, a master’s from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate from Loyola University.

Dr. Vijay Prashad has been named the George and Martha Kellner Chair of South Asian History at Trinity College (Conn.). He is a professor of international studies at the university. Prashad holds a bachelor’s from Pomona College and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Irelene Ricks has been appointed director of biotechnology talent at the Biotechnology Institute. She was most recently director of minority affairs for the American Society for Cell Biology. Ricks earned a bachelor’s from Georgetown University and a doctorate from Howard University.
