The University of Michigan Reports Undergraduate Enrollment Up

ANN ARBOR, Mich.— The University of Michigan says undergraduate enrollment at its Ann Arbor campus rose to 28,395 students this fall.

The number announced Monday is 112 students more than a year ago and includes an entering class of 6,505, which is 280 more than in 2013.

For the eighth consecutive year, applications for the entering class set a record. This year it was 49,776, a 6.3 percent increase from a year ago. Overall, fall enrollment on the Ann Arbor campus is 43,625, down by 85 students from the previous year.

The number of underrepresented minority students in the freshman class was nearly the same as last year, but as a percentage it was down to 10 percent from 10.6 percent. The number of graduate and professional students decreased by 197 to 15,230.
