Dr. Wayne J. Riley has been named the 10th president of Meharry Medical College (Tenn.). He was most recently vice president and vice dean for health affairs and governmental relations at Baylor College of Medicine. Riley earned a bachelor’s from Yale University, a master’s from Tulane University, an MBA from Rice University and a medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine.
Dr. Carlos R. Clark has been named assistant provost for student financial aid at Prairie View A&M University (Texas). He had previously been director of financial aid at Alabama A&M University. Clark earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
Rassoul Dastmozd has been appointed vice president of instruction at Clark College (Wash.). He was most recently dean of the applied technology division in the Eastern Iowa Community College District. Dastmozd earned a bachelor’s from Southwest State University and a master’s from Drake University.
Dr. Edith Fernández has been appointed director of the Student Development Center at the University of Texas at El Paso. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Nevada, Reno, a master’s from UNLV, a master’s from Harvard Graduate School and a doctorate from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Robert Hampton has been appointed executive vice president and provost at Tennessee State University. He had been the chancellor’s faculty fellow and a professor of sociology at the City University of New York. Hampton earned a bachelor’s from Princeton University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Kenneth P. Monteiro has been named dean of the College of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University. He had served as acting dean since 2004. Monteiro earned a bachelor’s from Dartmouth College and a doctorate from Stanford University.
