The Department of Special Education at North Carolina Central University has received a four-year, $798,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will provide tuition, fees and book awards to special education teachers enrolled in a dual licensure program.
The University of Virginia has received a $100 million donation from alum Frank Batten Sr., the retired chairman and CEO of Landmark Communications Inc. The donation, the largest in the history of the university, will establish the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Batten had previously donated $60 million to the School of Business.
