Former Purdue Star Jannon Lampley Named Women’s Basketball Coach at St. Joseph’s College

RENSSELAER Ind.

Jannon Lampley, former Big Ten player of the year at Purdue, was named women’s basketball coach Friday at St. Joseph’s College.

Lampley, then known as Jannon Roland, was a three-year starter and helped the Boilermakers to three Big Ten championships and to the NCAA Final Four in 1994. She was the conference’s player of the year in 1997 and finished her career with 1,662 points.

St. Joseph’s, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, was 5-22 last season and has had only one winning season in the past eight years.

“They know I can help them get better,” Lampley said of the returning players. “If they’re willing to accept the knowledge that I can impart to them, that could translate into better performance on the court.”

Lampley, who played one season in the WNBA and several years overseas, was an assistant coach at Purdue in 2003-06.
