by Associated Press , June 30, 2007

BATON ROUGE La.

One of Gov. Kathleen Blanco's top assistants is leaving the governor's office to take a position with the University of Louisiana System.

Kim Hunter Reed, the governor's deputy chief of staff, will become the UL System's executive vice president, under a move approved Friday by the university system's Board of Supervisors.

"She goes to the University of Louisiana System with my highest commendations," Blanco said in a statement. "The Board has made an outstanding decision."

Reed will begin the university job at the end of July. Before working for Blanco, Reed had other jobs in higher education, working for the Louisiana Board of Regents as deputy commissioner for public affairs and for Southeastern Louisiana University as an executive assistant to the president and interim vice president for student affairs.
