Concordia College Ending Football Program

SELMA, Ala. ― Another small college in Alabama is shutting down its football program.

The Selma Times-Journal reports that board members at Concordia College announced their decision to end the sport on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman says the price of travel, equipment and other expenses became too much of a financial stress on the small, historically Black college.

The decision comes just weeks after Stillman College in Tuscaloosa decided to shut down football and other sports beside basketball. Officials there also cited finances.
