Threatening Fliers At UW-Milwaukee Bus Stops Target White Female Students

MILWAUKEE
A number of threatening fliers were found at university bus
stops over the weekend, and one school official said campus police were taking
the threats seriously.

Tom Luljak, an administrator with the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee, said the signs were discovered Sunday at three bus stops
and removed by campus officers.

The signs, printed out in all capital letters, read in part,
“To all UWM white female students!!! If you disrespect a black man on the
Number 30 bus you will get hurt and killed like Joe Munz.”

Munz, 21, was a UW-Milwaukee business student who was killed
in a robbery attempt in October as he delivered sandwiches for a local
restaurant. Michael Green, 24, was convicted of the murder and sentenced in May
to 57 years in prison.

Luljak said the threats were unexpected because officials
hadn’t received any recent reports of disturbances.

“We are determined to find out what’s behind it,”
he told WITI-TV in Milwaukee.
“Because in this day and age, certainly post-Virginia Tech, we don’t take
anything lightly that would suggest that there could be a threat against our
students.”

He said campus police had several leads.
