Dr. Rose Marie Duhon-Sells has been named senior vice president for academic affairs at The Union Institute in Cincinnati. Previously, she was a professor at McNeese State University in Louisiana. She earned a bachelor’s in elementary education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana; a master’s in guidance and counseling from Southern University; and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University.

Elease Robbins is the new vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Previously she served in the position on an interim basis. Robbins earned a bachelor’s from Colorado State University in psychology and is completing a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in human resource management and public policy at the University of Colorado at Denver.

Dr. Donald G. Phelps has been appointed chair of the Men’s Intercollegiate Athletic Council at the University of Texas at Austin. Phelps is an endowed professor in educational administration. He earned a bachelor’s in education and a master’s in education administration and guidance, both from Seattle University, and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Washington-Seattle.
S. Renee Smith has been named director of public relations at Delaware State University. Smith has worked for 11 years in entertainment — producing publicity material for clients such as Oprah Winfrey. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Delaware State University and a certificate in sales and persuasion from the International Center for Training and Management Development in Leesburg, Va.

Dr. Benjamin Ola. Akande has been appointed dean of the school of business and Technology at Webster University in St. Louis. He was formerly special assistant to the president at Wayland Baptist University.  Akande earned a bachelor’s from Wayland Baptist and master’s in economics and public administration, as well as a doctorate in economics, all from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. John L. Henderson, president of Wilberforce University in Ohio, has been selected to become a member of the Council of Presidents of the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities. The council serves as advisers to the board, identifying issues that will affect colleges and universities. Henderson earned a bachelor’s from Hampton University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Cincinnati.
