CALIFORNIA, Pa. ― Faculty and coaches at a southwestern Pennsylvania university are planning to hold a no-confidence vote.
The (Washington) Observer-Reporter reports that union members at California University of Pennsylvania will gather votes next week.
The vote concerns whether faculty have confidence in the university’s council of trustees, interim president and three vice presidents. Union leaders say the vote also involves the academic affairs, financial and student affairs departments.
Geraldine Jones was named acting president in May 2012.
The school furloughed 16 non-union employees and eliminated an additional 14 positions in 2014. Seven non-union jobs were cut in January.
A university spokewoman says Jones hasn’t been given a list of grievances.
Larry Maggi, president of the council of trustees, says he’s surprised to learn about the vote.
