President Obama to Deliver Howard University Commencement Address

President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address at Howard University in Washington next month, the university announced Thursday.

The president, who will deliver the remarks May 7, will be speaking at commencement of a historically Black college or university for the third time during his administration. He also has been the featured speaker at Morehouse College (2013) and Hampton University (2010).

“The President’s commitment to education, especially for those who can least afford it, dovetails with Howard’s commitment to provide these same students with a rigorous, intellectually-stimulating, and academically-challenging educational experience,” Frederick said in a statement.

Obama also will address the Class of 2016 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on May 15 and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 2.
