Dr. Thoyd Melton has been named associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of the graduate school at North Carolina A&T State University. Previously, he was associate dean of the graduate school and a professor at North Carolina State University. Melton earned a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from North Carolina Central University; and a doctorate in biology from the Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Valdrie N. Walker has been named dean of co-curricular life at Sweet Briar College (Va.). Previously, she was assistant dean of academic affairs and director of the Transition program in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. Walker earned a bachelor's degree in education from St. Paul's College (Va.); and a master's degree in administration and supervision, and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy, both from the University of Virginia.
Association Appointments
Dr. Michael D. McClenic has been named vice president for the new workforce division of ACT (formerly American College Testing). Previously, he was senior vice president and managing director for Drake Beam Morin, an international career-enhancement and transition service in St. Louis, and a professor of psychology at Chicago State University. McClenic earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in clinical psychology, and a doctorate in educational leadership, all from Western Michigan University.
Dr. William E. Moore has been named a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, class of 1999. Moore is senior special assistant to the Chancellor at Southern University (La.). Moore earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Southern University-Baton Rouge, and a doctorate in biophysical chemistry from Purdue University.
