Johnson C. Smith University, as the lead institution in The North Carolina Consortium for International and Intercultural Education, has been awarded a $420,000 grant by the National Security Education Program to establish a Russian language and culture program.
Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus has secured a $300,000 Economic Development Initiative Grant from the federal government to begin transforming its Humanities Conference Hall into a community-based performing and fine arts facility.
Northeastern Illinois University has been awarded $30,000
from the GTE Foundation to fund N-Connects, a program designed to
promote the recruitment and retention of qualified minority students
who pursue undergraduate degrees in mathematics and science.
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) has received two gifts totaling $11.8 million for its New Brunswick-based Child Health Institute of New Jersey, a newly established biomedical research center focused on the health and wellness of children. The school received a $5.9 million grant from The Robert Wood Foundation, and another $5.9 million grant from Johnson & Johnson.
Voorhees College has received a $360,000 grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina to sponsor its "Partnership for Empowering Fathers" initiative targeted for Bamberg County.
