The City College of New York School of Engineering has received a $50,000 grant from the General Electric Fund to launch a new program designed to motivate minority high school juniors toward research careers.
Columbia College has received a $50,000 planning grant to partner with six community-based organizations to develop youth arts programming in diverse Chicago neighborhoods.

Florida Memorial College has been awarded a $505,713 three-year federal grant from The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to be used toward the development of a high-quality program in math and science.
Goldman Sachs & Co. has donated $25,000 to the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. The grant will support the consortium in providing merit-based full-tuition scholarships to African American, Hispanic American, and Native American students at the following schools of business management: Indiana University; New York University; the University of California-Berkeley; the University of Michigan; the University of North Carolina; the University of Rochester; the University of Southern California; the University of Texas-Austin; the University of Virginia; the University of Wisconsin; and Washington University.
THE FORD FOUNDATION HAS AWARDED TEN SUPPLEMENTS TOTALING $3,945,000, OVER TWO YEARS FOR THE FOUNDATION'S URBAN PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM. THE RECIPIENTS WERE AS FOLLOWS:
* Florida International University, $290,000, for its College and Careers Program;
* Los Angeles Community College District, $330,000, for the Los Angeles Urban Partnership;
* The University of Memphis, $330,000, to increase the number of minority students who enter and complete college;
* The University of Minnesota, $280,000, to assist Minneapolis's educational reform efforts;
