WORCESTER, Mass. ― A former Clark University student who said he was unfairly expelled after he was accused of rape has reached a preliminary settlement in his lawsuit against the school.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that federal court records show a settlement was reached Tuesday and the case was dismissed. If the settlement is not completed within 30 days, the case could be reopened.
The student, identified in court papers as John Doe of Connecticut, sought $75,000 after he said he was dismissed from the Worcester university in 2015.
He said he was victim of a biased inquiry into his alleged assault of a female student in January 2015. He said a campus anti-sexual assault campaign prejudiced school officials. He said the encounter was consensual. He was never criminally charged.
