TWIN FALLS, Idaho ― The College of Southern Idaho has agreed to pay a former vice president $650,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit.
The Times-News reports in a story on Tuesday that the settlement with Edit Szanto was made through the college’s insurer, the Idaho Counties Risk Management Program.
The college in a statement denies any liability or wrongdoing, but says it is settling to limit the costs and distraction of litigation.
Szanto sued in 2015 contending she was fired when she made claims about discrimination against her as a woman and an immigrant from Romania.
Szanto worked at the school for 17 years before being placed on administrative leave in January 2014.
Szanto says she didn’t create conflict but didn’t conform to the female stereotype of a subservient employee.
