Spelman College (Ga.) has received a $1 million gift from the Bank of New York to establish an endowment for students majoring in computer and information sciences, economics and mathematics. The gift will also be used to create a lecture series on topics of interest to African-Americans.

The University at Albany (N.Y.) has received a $180,000 grant from the Getty Foundation’s Campus Heritage Initiative to create a plan for the preservation of the university’s uptown campus. The preservation plan will also identify areas of potential growth on the campus, which was designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone.
