Tennessee State To Host Digital Divide Conference

Fall 2000 is proving to be busy for historically Black colleges and universities that are vying to bring the HBCU community together on digital divide issues.
Tennessee State University joins the ranks of other HBCUs and an HBCU faculty organization that are holding technology conferences. (see Black Issues, Sept. 28). Collaborating with the AOL Foundation, Tennessee State officials are hosting "Conferencing Alliance to Help Bridge the Digital Divide Between HBCUs and Other Higher Education Institutions in This Country" in Atlanta on Oct. 29-30.
The conference is aimed at HBCU management, particularly presidents, administrators, technology managers and deans. Faculty and student issues also will be addressed. According to TSU officials, the conference also will focus on technology challenges with the intent of helping school officials identify solutions that match the needs of their particular institution.
