MARTINEZ, Calif.
A former Diablo Valley College student is facing a year in jail after pleading guilty to his role in a grade-changing scheme at the school.
As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Julian Revilleza pleaded guilty this week to 15 felony counts of fraudulent computer access while he worked in Diablo Valley’s records office.
As part of the deal, the judge in the case sentenced 26-year-old Revilleza to four years in state prison, but suspended the sentence. After Revilleza agreed to work with police in the case, the judge gave him a year in jail instead of four.
Prosecutors describe Revilleza as the mastermind of a cheating plot that helped classmates get their grades changed on official transcripts, enabling some students to transfer to four-year universities.
So far, criminal charges have been brought against 34 current or former Diablo Valley College students.
