Just the Stats: Postsecondary Trends for Minorities

Over the last three decades, undergraduate enrollment rates for minority students have increased, nearly doubling from 17 to 32 percent. Minorities have made substantial strides in completion rates at the high school and college levels; however, when compared to Whites, gaps in student achievement remain. Between 1990 and 2005, the gap between White and Black high school completion rates closed substantially, however, no significant changes occurred between the White-Hispanic disparities.
