Carroll Community College officials say full-time enrollment has jumped more than 12 percent this fall and part-time enrollment grew nearly three percent.
Alan Schuman, the executive vice president of administration for the college, says the total head count this year is more than 3,400.
Schuman says it’s so crowded some times that students are parking on the baseball field for the first time. He says midday classes are often full, and sections have been added since last year.
Enrollment has grown for eight years, but this year’s growth caught officials by surprise.
The campus’s facilities are growing too. A new parking lot is expected to open next fall and a new classroom building expected to open in fall 2009.
