Ten outstanding leaders in the field of journalism will receive one of the industry’s highest awards, the prestigious Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism presented annually by the Missouri School of Journalism.
Minority journalists Dean Baquet, Washington bureau chief and assistant managing editor for The New York Times; Paula Madison, executive vice president of diversity for NBC Universal; Russ Mitchell, anchor and correspondent for CBS News; and Oh Yeon Ho, founder of Citizen Journalist Web site, are among those being honored.
The 2007 awardees, who will be honored Oct. 9 on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia, will present classes on topics related to their areas of expertise, followed by an awards ceremony. The school has awarded the Missouri Honor Medal annually since 1930.
