Memorial Service Set for Murray State President

TISHOMINGO, Okla.

A memorial service has been scheduled for the president of Murray State College.

The service for William Pennington is set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Fletcher Hall on the Murray State campus in Tishomingo. The 64-year-old Pennington had been Murray State’s president since 2004.

He died late Saturday in an accident on U.S. Highway 270 about two miles east of Arpelar. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Pennington’s vehicle was headed west when an eastbound vehicle swerved to avoid debris in the road and colliding head-on with his vehicle.

Funeral services for Pennington remain pending.

Murray State regents could name an interim president for the junior college when they hold a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.
