Professional Appointments

Dr. Christopher T. Curry has been appointed director of residence life at Delaware State University. He was formerly assistant dean of students and director of residence life at Delaware Valley College. Curry earned his bachelor's from Lincoln University, his master's from Cheyney University and his doctorate from LaSalle University.

Dr. Paul Keys has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Governors State University. Previously, he was associate provost for public service and service learning, and dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Southeast Missouri State University. Keys earned a bachelor's and a master's from St. Louis University, and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

Dr. Lawrence Jarmon has been named vice president for student services at Los Angeles Southwest College. Previously, he was director of college recruitment and community relations.  Jarmon earned a bachelor's and a master's from California State University-Los Angeles. He earned a second master's from the University of Washington and a doctorate from Washington State University.
Dr. Niara Sudarkasa, who served as the first female president of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, has joined the faculty of Florida Atlantic University as the Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the university's Davie-based College of Liberal Arts. Sudarkasa earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Oberlin College and master's and doctorate degrees in anthropology from Columbia University.

Dr. Stephen B. Thomas is the new
director for the Center for Minority Health and the inaugural holder of the Philip Hallen Chair in Community Health and Social Justice in the school of social work at the
University of Pittsburgh. Thomas earned a bachelor's  from Ohio State University; a master's from Illinois State University and a doctorate from Southern  Illinois University.

Dr. Barbara Williams Emerson has been appointed vice president for academic affairs at Audrey Cohen College in New York. Previously, Emerson was vice president for program development and associate provost at  New School University. Emerson earned a bachelor's  from New York University and a master's and doctorate from Columbia University.
