For the 2018-19 academic year, salaries for full-time faculty members at U.S. colleges and universities, on average, are 2 percent higher than they were in the 2017-18 academic year — just 0.01 percent above the inflation rate for the academic year after being adjusted.

State funding cuts lead to sharp tuition hikes at Florida colleges. “All capital outlay funding was vetoed by the governor,” notes Dr. Rolando Montoya, the provost of Miami Dade College. “The college continues doing more with less,” says Montoya, adding that the school is trying to keep the budget cuts “out of the classroom, as best as possible.”
