DR. RENU KHATOR  has been named president and chancellor of the University of Houston. She will assume her new post in January. Most recently, Khator served as provost and vice president of the University of South Florida. She holds a bachelor’s from Kanpur University in India and a master’s and doctorate from Purdue University in Indiana.

RUFFIN BELL III has been named director of intercollegiate athletics at Baltimore City Community College. Most recently, he served as the national administrator of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation’s Badges for Baseball crime prevention initiative. Bell holds a bachelor’s from Coppin State University and a master’s from Grambling State University.

DR. BASULI DEB has been named an assistant professor of English at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). She earned a bachelor’s from Presidency College at the University of Calcutta, a master’s from Jadavpur University in India, a master’s from the University of Calcutta and a doctorate from Michigan State University.

LATRINA L. DENSON has been named director of the Center for Multicultural Student Affairs at Millikin University (Ill.). Denson earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a master’s from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

DR. KENDALL T. HARRIS has been appointed dean of the College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University (Texas). Formerly, he served as associate professor of mechanical engineering and associate dean at the college. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of Kansas and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Mississippi.

DR. LEONARD L. HAYNES III has been named executive director of the White House Initiative on HBCUs. Haynes was director for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education. He earned a bachelor’s at Southern University, a master’s at Carnegie Mellon and a doctorate at The Ohio State University.

MANUEL LUJÁN has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president for enrollment management at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Luján was the associate vice president of enrollment management at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Angelo State University.

DR. BARRY L. MOORE has been appointed dean of educational services at Palm Beach County Community College’s Belle Glade location (Fla.). He holds a bachelor’s from Auburn University, a master’s from Alabama State University and a doctorate from the University of North Florida.

DR. WILLIAM L. POLLARD has been named vice president for the Office of Access and the Advancement of Public Black Colleges and Universities in the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. Pollard earned a bachelor’s from Shaw University, a master’s from the University of North Carolina and a doctorate from the University of Chicago.
