MOLLY CORBETT BROAD has been named president of the American Council on Education (ACE), the nation’s principal higher education association, effective May 1. She served as president of the University of North Carolina System from 1997-2006. Currently, she is a professor in the School of Government at UNCChapel Hill. Broad earned a bachelor’s from Syracuse University and a master’s from The Ohio State University.


Dr. DIEDRE BADEJO has been named dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at California State University, East Bay. Most recently, she served as an associate dean at the Kent State College of Arts and Sciences. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Southern California and a master’s and doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles.


DR. MARK LÓPEZ has been named associate director of the Pew Hispanic Center. Previously, he was research director of the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s and doctorate from Princeton University.


DR. LULA W. PELAYO has been named district director of nursing at San Antonio College (Texas). She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Texas System’s School of Nursing, a master’s from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing.


EDWARD SKLOOT has been named director of the new Center for Strategic Philanthropy and Civil Society at Duke University’s Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy (N.C.). Most recently, he was president of the Surdna Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s from Union College and a master’s from Columbia University.


ERIC L. WHITE has been named executive director of the National College Access Network. Recently, he served as president and executive director of the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of Southern California and a master’s from the University of California, Los Angeles.
