A new TV quiz show that aims to educate and excite viewers about Hispanic history will air nationally during Hispanic History Month, and is now accepting applicants.

“The Hispanic College Quiz,” a half-hour game show, will feature Hispanic college students from around the country facing off “Jeopardy”-style to answer questions from the book “A History of Latinos in America — Harvest of Empire” by Juan González.

Each team, consisting of five students and one coach, will be flown to Chicago for the taping. They will also receive hotel accommodations, ground transportation and a study guide.

Participating students will be displaying their knowledge of Hispanic history in hopes of taking home a scholarship to fund their education.

The first eight schools (and two alternate schools) to agree to participate in the show will be accepted. If you would like your school to participate, contact Jennifer J. Jackson of Central City Productions at (312) 654-1100, or via e-mail jjackson@ccptv.com.
