DR. SALLY CLAUSEN
has been named Commissioner of Higher Education for the state of Louisiana. Clausen now serves as president of the University of Louisiana System. She received a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Louisiana State University.

 

 

DR. KIMBERLY CLINE
has been named president of Mercy College (N.Y.). Previously, she served as the vice chancellor and chief financial officer of the State University of New York. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MBA, law degree and doctorate from Hofstra University.

 

BONNIE FERNANDEZ
has been named the new executive director of the Center for Produce Safety at the University of California, Davis. Formerly, she served as the executive director of the California Wheat Commission. Fernandez received a bachelor’s from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA from Sacramento State University.

 

SYDNEY HOWE-BARKSDALE
has been named director of the Public Interest Resource Center at Widener University (Del.). Previously, she served as interim executive director of the Toll Public Interest Center at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She holds a bachelor’s from Bryn Mawr College and a law degree from Boston University.

 

DR. JUDITH MIRANTI
has been named director of the division of education at Xavier University of Louisiana. She earned a bachelor’s from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, a master’s from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and a doctorate from the University of Nevada, Reno.

 

DR. ROBERTO RODRIGUEZ
has been named a research associate at the Mexican American Studies & Research Center at the University of Arizona. He received a bachelor’s from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Rodriguez is also a frequent Diverse contributor.

 

THEODORE M. SHAW
has been named a professor of professional practice at Columbia Law School (N.Y.). Shaw holds a bachelor’s from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Columbia Law School.

 

 

DR. BETSEY C. SMITH
has been named associate dean of the School of Health Sciences at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). Formerly she served as chair of the occupational therapy department at the University of Hartford. Smith holds a bachelor’s from Quinnipiac University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

 

DR. SHARON WASHINGTON
has been named executive director for the National Writing Project, a California-based teacher development network. She earned a bachelor’s from The Ohio State University, a master’s from Central Michigan University and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.
