Kevin Gover, a professor of law and affiliate professor of the American Indian studies program at Arizona State University, has been named director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law.




Eric D. Cárdenas has been named director of public information and publications at the University of Tampa. He was the director of media relations at Connecticut College. Cárdenas earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College and a master’s degree from the University of Florida.




Dr. Jocelyn Harney has been named vice president of enrollment and student affairs at College of DuPage (Ill.). She previously worked as the college’s dean of students. Harney earned a bachelor’s from Wright State University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana.




Dr. Calvin D. Jamison has been appointed vice president for business affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas. Most recently, Jamison served as the senior vice president and chief administrative officer at Hampton University. He earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.




Dr. Manuel Laguna has been named associate dean of faculty for the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. He is also a professor of operations management at Leeds. He earned a bachelor’s from Tecnológico de Monterey at Querétaro, Mexico and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.




Raymond J. McClendon has been named president and chief operating officer of Gourmet Services Inc., the nation’s largest completely African-American-owned food service company. He is currently managing partner of iiQuest Consulting. McClendon holds a bachelor’s from Morehouse College and an MBA from Georgia State University.




Dr. Andrea Lewis Miller has been named the second chancellor of SOWELA Technical Community College in Lake Charles, La. Most recently, she served as provost/executive vice president for academic affairs, administration and planning at Southwest Tennessee Community College. Miller received her bachelor’s from LeMoyne-Owen College and her master’s and doctorate from Atlanta University.




Jaysen T. Spencer has been appointed academic coordinator for the Total Person Program within the athletics department at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He previously served as the coordinator of student-athlete support services at Western Carolina University. Spencer earned a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree from Kent State University.




Dr. Earl G. Yarborough has been appointed president of Savannah State University (Ga.). Previously, he served at Virginia State University as vice president for academic and student affairs and as a professor of industrial technology. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Wichita State University, a master’s at California State University at Los Angeles and a doctorate from Iowa State University.
