Dr. Reginald S. Avery has been appointed president of Coppin State University (Md.). Currently executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of South Carolina Upstate, he will assume his new position in January. Avery earned a bachelor’s from North Carolina A&T State University, a master’s from the George Williams College of Aurora University and a doctorate from Brandeis University.
Dr. Brian Argrow has been named associate dean in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Most recently, he was the Look Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences. Argrow received a bachelor’s, master’s and a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma.
Liliana Garcia has been named enrollment counselor for the Center for Intercultural Teaching at Goshen College (Ind.). Previously she worked as a graduate supervisor in the Indiana University Residence Life Office. Garcia earned a bachelor’s and a master’s from Indiana University.
Dr. Joi Lewis has been appointed dean of student life at Mills College (Calif.). Previously, she was an Archibald Bush Leadership Fellow and visiting scholar at the Spencer Foundation in Chicago. She holds a bachelor’s from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, a master’s from Iowa State University and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jamie P. Merisotis has been named president and CEO of the Lumina Foundation for Education. Merisotis was founding president of the Institute for Higher Education Policy, a nonpartisan research center in Washington. He earned a bachelor’s from Bates College.
Crystal Neuhauser has been named director of development and alumni affairs at at Quinnipiac University (Conn.). Neuhauser previously worked at Yale School of Medicine for 15 years. She earned a bachelor’s from Albertus Magnus College.
Stephen John Quaye has been appointed assistant professor in the College Student Personnel Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at Pennsylvania State University. Quaye earned a bachelor’s from James Madison University and a master’s from Miami University in Ohio.
Dr. Anny Morrobel-Sosa has been named dean of the College of Science and professor of chemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso. She received a bachelor’s from the University of Puerto Rico, a master’s from the State University of New York and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Karen Jackson-Weaver has been named associate dean of academic affairs and diversity for the graduate school at Princeton University. She earned a bachelor’s from Princeton, a master’s from Harvard University and two master’s and a doctorate from Columbia University.
