Women in Higher Education: Is Equity Still an Issue?

Overview

Traditionally, women in the middle and executive levels of higher education administration have been under-represented.  Is this still true?  How are colleges and universities addressing this issue and closing the gap on gender biases?  This panel will address the challenges that face women administrators and discuss how to earse the gender labeling that unfortunately still occurs in many institutions across the country.   
 
Questions that will be addressed:

  1. What improvements have been made in the last 15 years with regards to women in higher education? 
  2. What gender labeling still exists?
  3. What programs are in place to close this gap? 
  4. Who’s doing it right?  Examples of best practices and programs. 
  5. What social issues affect women in higher education i.e. balancing work and family, finding a mentor, authority perceptions, etc. 
  6. What leadership resources are available nationally to support the advancement of women in higher education?
