Utah Valley State College Approves First Master’s Degree for Utah Valley University

OREM, Utah

Utah Valley State College has taken a big first step toward its new status as a university.

The college’s Board of Trustees approved the school’s first master’s degree program yesterday.

The Master’s of Education degree must still be affirmed by the state board of regents before the program can be implemented. If approved, the program would become available to students during the fall 2008 semester. The program is designed as an applied degree focused on building instructional skills and professional competency for teachers.

UVSC will become Utah Valley University in July.

Other master’s degree programs in the works are in business and nursing.
