BALTIMORE

A survey of compensation for college presidents shows Johns Hopkins president Dr. William Brody is among the highest paid presidents in the nation.

The numbers compiled by The Chronicle of Higher Education show Brody received nearly 2 million dollars in pay and benefits for 2006.

He ranked third on the list. The president of Northeastern University was on top, with about 2.9 million dollars in total compensation.

Among public colleges, the highest-paid president in the survey was David Roselle, who retired from the University of Delaware this year. He received about $875,000 in total compensation for 2006.
