Professional Appointments

Dr. Guy Bailey has been appointed president of Texas Tech University. Previously, he served as chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Bailey earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Alabama and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee.

DR. DAVID KROLL has been named the first chairperson of the pharmaceutical sciences department at North Carolina Central University. Kroll earned a bachelor’s from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and a doctorate from the University of Florida.

***IMAGE3:LEFT***PAUL LONG has been named vice chancellor of educational services at Metropolitan Community College (Mo.). Most recently, he served as a philosophy instructor at MCC-Maple Woods. He received a bachelor’s from the University of Missouri- Kansas City and a master’s from the University of Kentucky.

NORMA RICHARDS has been named equity officer at Palm Beach County Community College (Fla.). Formerly, she served as a senior human resources analyst for the city of Tamarac, Fla. Richards holds a bachelor’s and master’s from Florida International University.

DR. BENJAMIN F. QUILLIAN, Jr. has been named vice chancellor for administration and finance at The California State University. Quillian earned a bachelor’s from Harris Teachers College, a master’s from Southern Illinois University and a doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis.

DR. NEIL ROBERTS has been appointed assistant professor of Africana studies and faculty affiliate in political science at Williams College (Mass.). He previously served as a postdoctoral fellow and visiting faculty at Johns Hopkins University. Roberts earned two bachelor’s from Brown University and a doctorate from the University of Chicago.

WINSTON E. SCOTT has been named dean of the Florida Institute of Technology College of Aeronautics. Formerly, he served as an astronaut for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Scott earned a bachelor’s from Florida State University and a master’s at the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, Calif.

DR. SHERWOOD THOMPSON has been named assistant dean of the College of Education at Eastern Kentucky University. Previously, he served as director of Teacher Education Services. He earned a bachelor’s from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

STARLA WILLIAMS has been named professor of legal methods at Widener University School of Law (Pa.). She earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Georgetown University and a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law.
