Point Park University to Launch a School of Education

Soe Announcement ImagePoint Park University has created a School of Education, providing flexible online, campus and hybrid programs for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in education, according to university officials.

“Establishing a School of Education at Point Park reflects the status and reputation of this exceptional department, not only regionally and nationally, but within our own campus community,” said Dr. Paul Hennigan, president of Point Park University.

Before the creation of the School of Education, the university’s Department of Education saw an increase in enrollment, specifically in the graduate programs at the master’s and doctoral level degrees.

The institution currently offers 32 undergraduate degree programs, including: pre-K to fourth grade education, fourth grade to eighth grade education, secondary education, instructional studies, early childhood education and special education dual certification.

“The field of teacher education is one that is multi-faceted with requirements at both the undergraduate and graduate levels,” said Dr. Darlene B. Marnich, professor of education and chair of the education programs at Point Park University. “The need for expanding programs and recruitment to meet state and national demands is without question.”
