Former Kennesaw Cheerleader Files Federal Lawsuit Against School

A former Kennesaw State University cheerleader is suing the school, saying it violated one of her constitutional rights, according to a KTRV-TV report.

A federal lawsuit filed by Tommia Dean, states that her civil rights were violated by the school when she and four other cheerleaders were kept off the field for a few games following their taking a knee during the national anthem in October.

Making the five stand in the field tunnel for the next few games violated her First Amendment rights, she said.

Four of the five cheerleaders involved didn’t make this year’s squad, according to an Atlanta Journal Constitution report.
