Professional Appoitments

DR. CAMMY ABERNATHY has been appointed dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Florida. She is currently the associate dean for the Offi ce of Academic Affairs and a professor of materials science in the engineering college. Abernathy received her bachelor’s from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master’s and doctorate from Stanford University.

DR. LOUIS CASAGRANDE has been appointed dean of the School of Education, Social Work, Child Life and Family Studies at Wheelock College (Mass.). He formerly was president and CEO of the Boston Children’s Museum. Casagrande earned a bachelor’s from Yale University, a master’s from American University and a doctorate from the University of Minnesota.

DR. FENIOSKY PEÑA-MORA has been named dean of the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University (N.Y.). Peña-Mora earned a bachelor’s from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the Dominican Republic, and a master’s and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

DR. SHERRIE GUERRERO has been named vice president of instruction at Chaffey College (Calif.). Guerrero earned an associate degree from San Bernardino Valley College, a bachelor’s from California State University-San Bernardino, a master’s from CSU-Fullerton and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.

ARLENE M. HILL has been named director of the Kogod Center for Career Development at American University (Washington, D.C.). Hill previously served as associate director of MBA career management at Georgetown University. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s from Bowling Green University.

DR. DONALD KETTL has been named dean of the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, College Park. He most recently served as the Robert A. Fox Professor of Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. Kettl earned a bachelor’s, two master’s and a doctorate from Yale University.

DR. DAWN ALISHA LOTT is director of the Honors Program at Delaware State University. She previously served as an associate professor of applied mathematics and biological sciences at the university. Lott earned a bachelor’s from Bucknell University, a master’s from Michigan State University and a doctorate from Northwestern University.

SALVATORE MERINGOLO has been named vice president for advancement and university relations at the University of Mary Washington (Va.). Meringolo holds a bachelor’s from the State University of New York at New Paltz, a master’s from the State University of New York at Albany and a master’s from Iona College.

DR. VIRGINIA PILATO has been appointed chair of the education department and director of teacher education in the Graduate School of Management and Technology at the University of Maryland’s University College. Pilato earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Maryland- College Park.
