WPU to Host Inaugural Hip Hop and Higher Ed Symposium

William Peace University (WPU) has announced that the inaugural Hip Hop and Higher Education Symposium will occur April 4-5 and will center on academic conversations regarding the hip hop genre’s relationship to social justice and other issues.

The event will include over 12 panels, led by national and local scholars, students and community members and will address the arts, gender, politics, sexual identity, race, economics, criminal justice, activism and social responsibility.

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, a former BET and HuffPost LIVE contributor and professor of media studies and urban education at Temple University, will be the keynote speaker.
